The second International Tea Festival is scheduled to take place in Thai Nguyen province in November 2013, said Ms Ma Thi Nguyet, Vice Chairwoman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Festival Organisation Board, at a press conference organised in May 31.

This festival is jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Thai Nguyen province. The locations for the event, which will last three days from November 9 to 11, 2013, include Thai Nguyen city, the Vietnam Ethnic Culture Museum, Nui Coc Lake tourist sites and some tea-growing areas in the province. The festival is expected to attract 30 tea-growing provinces in Vietnam, some member states of the World Tea Council, 25 tea producers, processors and exporters, and 50 tea villages from nine districts and towns in the province.
According to the plan, this festival will have some main activities namely seminars on tea products and tea sector development investment promotion, tourism promotion, tea culture festivals, Thai Nguyen tea carnival, and the Tea Queen Contest.
Besides, the event also has five supporting activities: exhibition of books, photographs and artworks about the land, the people and the tea of Thai Nguyen and Vietnam; sightseeing tours for visitors; countryside tea markets; industrial and agricultural product fair; and sporting activities.
The budget for the festival will be sought from central, local and other sources.
